The Coral Springs Charter School is a public school, organized by the City of Coral Springs, operating under a performance contract or charter with the Broward County School Board. Charter schools are freed from some of the bureaucratic rules and regulations controlling traditional public schools, but in return, are held accountable for specific academic and financial performance. As a result of their autonomy, charter schools are free to develop programs to meet the specific needs of their students. And because parents choose charter schools, parental involvement is very high.
The Coral Springs Charter School will accept any eligible student resident in Broward County who submits a timely application, unless the number of applications exceeds the capacity of a program, class, grade level, or building. In such cases, all applicants shall have an equal chance of being selected through a random selection process. Enrollment preference is given to siblings of currently enrolled students and children of Charter Schools, USA employees. Because CSCS is recognized by the School Board of Broward County as a “Charter School-in-a-Municipality” pursuant to Section 1002.33, Florida Statutes, Coral Springs residents will receive preference if applying during open enrollment. The Coral Springs Charter School does not discriminate or limit enrollment based on race, religion or disability.
