Attendance

In accordance with School Board of Broward County Policy, high school staff members may not accept notes as reports of excused absences. Parents/guardians MUST report absences on the day of the absence by 9:00 a.m. In addition, for middle school students, CSCS requires a written note within two days of the absence.

To report absences, please call:

Middle School:   (954) 340-4128
High School:      (954) 340-4129

For more information regarding absences, please refer to the CSC Handbook.

Tardiness

In the age of accountability, classroom instructional time becomes more important than ever. In an effort to allow instruction to begin on time, CSCS is excited about the continuation of the “Start-on-Time” Program.

The program was designed to change behavioral dynamics of students in the hallways, at their lockers, and in their classrooms.

The Start on Time Program has been a true success due to the support and cooperation of administrators, faculty, support staff, parents, and students.

Learning time is too valuable to waste! Let’s join together to make this another productive school year!

Dress Code

A higher standard of dress encourages greater respect for individual students and others and results in a higher standard of behavior. It also prepares students for the dress code requirements of the workforce. Our dress code guidelines indicate appropriate school dress for normal school days. CSCS reserves the right to interpret these guidelines and/or make changes during the school year. Students are expected to follow these guidelines. Every student in attendance will wear a school uniform. Failure to wear any part of the school uniform will result in a Disciplinary Detention.

Please Note: Although we tried to be specific to all dress code issues, there may be issues not included here that are left to the discretion of the faculty and administration of the school.

I.D. Badges

Please be aware that we are strictly enforcing the I.D. policy. Random I.D. checks will be conducted by Administration. Students not wearing their badges will be given a one hour after school detention.

Rule: All students will be given a specific CSCS photo I.D. badge. All students are required on a daily basis to wear the I.D. badge around their neck or clipped to their shirt above the waist. Students are not allowed to alter or deface their I.D. badge or wear the I.D. badge of another person.

Early Sign-outs

All students are required to be properly signed out before leaving campus during school operating hours. In order to maintain high academic standards students will be allowed, with parent permission, three sign outs per quarter. Additional sign outs will only be granted with administrative approval. Please schedule doctor/dental appointments after school hours. There will be no dismissals 30 minutes prior to the end of the school day.

CONSEQUENCES FOR NOT FOLLOWING RULE::

Phones

Students are not permitted to use the office telephones unless it is an emergency and has been approved by an administrator. Calls originating from the school will be supervised. No student will be called to the office to receive a personal call. An administrator or counselor will deliver emergency messages to the student. Cell phone usage by students is not permitted in the building. If a student is seen using a cell phone, it will be confiscated and the parent will be required to pick it up.
